Then, Graduation...
It was April, 1949. Some 1500 teenagers ranging in age from 15 - 18 years old left the portals of their Alma Mater. They left their beloved school with mixed emotions: fear of what the future had in store for them; sadness over separation from long-time friends; excitement about entrance to college, especially those whose parents could afford to send them to the colleges and universities of their choice.
Graduation ceremonies were held at the Arellano University Auditorium on Plaza Guipit in the District of Sampaloc. The graduation dinner and dance followed at the Manila Hotel.
Leticia Pacis was the class valedictorian and Bonifacio Calayag was the salutatorian. A few others graduated with honors and honorable mention. They all came from Section One, a very elite group. However, with or without honors, the graduates were all jubilant! High school graduation was a great milestone in their life. Yes!
The graduates were ready for college.
